One of my coworkers asked me if rock was dead.

I’m actually not joking. I think that people who say “rock is dead” are people who are either (1) too lazy to give new music more than a passing chance or (2) too close-minded to accept new-sounding music into their understanding of rock. In either case, rock is not dead. More likely, the person who thinks it is dead is probably just getting old.

In fairness, I think the person who asked if it was dead really doesn’t know anything about popular music, and it really was an innocent question. Which made it that much more strange to me. . .
